Relocating To Dallas

From Phoenix, AZ to Dallas, TX!  Oh ya!  My client definetly got the memo that Dallas is booming and that this is the place to be!  I had the pleasure of showing my client around for 2 days and landing him the perfect apartment.  His budget was $2,000 a month and was looking for the Uptown area.  I was able to get him a 972 square foot apartment on the 8th floor on the Cantabria At Turtle Creek and he moves in to his new home in 3 weeks.  He doesn't want to wait very long to start laying down roots.

My client was amazed at the city and fell in love as soon as he arrived.  Dallas is one of the fastest growing cities right now and the real estate market is crazy.  It seems that almost everyday a new company is moving their head quarters here or there is a new high rise going up, but the one thing that stays constant is people are transplanting here.

I actually have another client transplanting here from Alabama next year.  Regardless, real estate is booming and I have a new friend in town and I can't wait to show him around Dallas.

Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles Review

Bravo!  And I'm not just talking about how good the show was.  The popular television channel, Bravo, has really capitalized on their Million Dollar Listing series and I'm hooked.  Last nights most recent episode was nothing short of entertaining.  As a real estate agent I like anything that has to do with home buyers or sellers.

Last nights episode showed Josh Altman balancing the delicated act of having a successful real estate career and making sure to give his friends, girlfriend, and family enough quality time.  It was very touching watching him bond with his dad.

The other two top players on the show, David and James, were caught in a very unique situation with an investor wanting to buy 3 properties for no more than 16 million and a quarter.  Origionally the investor wanted to buy all 3 for a max budget of 16 million, but they negotiated a little wiggle room.  It was cool to see them negotiate the deal and try to hit their target.  They were able to hit the mark with change to spare.  Well not exactly change, but more like the tune of $90,000 under budget.   I wish I had a client wanting to buy $16 million in investment properties...maybe next year.

Over all a very good episode showing some fun situations that are similar to the everyday world of real estate.  Close, but way more entertaining!

Why Did I Became A Real Estate Agent?

I moved to Dallas 3 years ago with a dream in my heart.  I knew that my hometown of Hattiesburg, Mississippi was not going to be forever, but I always aspired to do something bigger.  Real estate in Dallas is just that.  The market here is huge and it's one of the most stable and fastest growing in the U.S.  So to be a part of it is amazing.  New families and large corporations are pouring in here daily to make the "Lone Star" their new home.

I grew up with humble roots.  My dad worked his way from the bottom at his job as an electrical engineer only to have his own office and become chairman at Jarden Enterprise.  My mom was a bank teller and eventually became an assistant teacher at the private christian school that my brohthers and I attended for more than 11 years.  One thing they had in common was their values and their big hearts.  They adopted 5 children and I was the youngest.  There were 2 girls and 3 boys.  They not only adopted us, but were our foster parents too.  So there was a brief period of time when I didn't know my future.  I didn't know what family would adopt me and I bounced around when I was very young between families.

Real estate is very personal to me.  I knew what it was like at a very young age not to have a home and to search for the perfect one.  My parent always taught me to give back, and I feel as a REALTOR I am able to give back and help people find a home of their own.  There is nothing more rewarding then handing someone keys to their home and telling them to go and enjoy their new life.  It really strikes a chord and brings me happiness.  I know exactly where I am in life and doing real estate in Dallas is where it's at.

How Much Does A Real Estate Agent Cost?

Seeing dollar signs?  Well you shouldn't be.  In todays world we expect to pay for everything, but when buying a home, condo, apartment, or townhome its free.  Yes, free.  99% of Realtors including myself will not charge one cent.  Isn't that nice to hear?  There are some apartment locators and other services that charge a small fee, but at Rogers Healy and Associates we don't.  Now let me put my running shoes on and lets go run around town together and find you a place to live!

Now when dealing on the selling side you do pay a fee at the time of closing.  It is normally 6% of the purchase price and that gets divided among the selling and buyig agents.  The price of your house is positioned so that you don't really notice that 6%.  Sometimes only 3% is paid when dealing with a FOR SALE BY OWNER and that will go to the buyers agent.  I've taken a listing like that before and didn't charge the FSBO.  We do what we have to in this industry to impress the seller.

So don't sweat the small stuff and try to take on the world plus all the added stress of buying or selling a home.  Let us take care of that for you!
