Dallas Real Estate Braces Itself As It Is Top Pick For Amazon HQ2 With Decision Looming Near!
By Alex
August 21, 2018

Amazon is getting ready to make a decision on where it will place its next heaquarters.  The site is also known as HQ2.  Dallas has been one of the top picks.  First Wallstreet Journal named it top pick over the summer and now CNBC put out a report that Austin and Dallas TX are at the top of the list for Amazons next home.

Being home to HQ2 would change Dallas forever.  It would be an instant boom.  There are a lot of requirements for the next headquarters.  Honestly, no city out of the 20 that Amazon is eyeing has all of them.  Dallas tho comes close.  The business friendly atmosphere, 4th largest ariport hub, strong economy, good home values, tech talent, and no state taxes are some of what put Dallas at the top of the list.  Also, Amazon aquired Whole Foods and it is based out of Austin.  Not to mention that Austin has a strong tech force and is only 3.5 hours away from Dallas.  If the bullet train and Virgin Hyperloop get built then workers could comute much easier.

Dallas does have high property taxes since there is no state tax and tho we have a growing tech industry it is not as strong as other major cities.  Not to mention that the public schools in Dallas ISD have poor scores, but Dallas is home to many private schools.  Also, the suburbs where a lot of workers will live has some of the top rated schools in the state.  So Dallas isn't perfect, but numerous reports point to it being the city that Amazon will crown the winner.  A decision as soon as this month could give a better indication if we are number one.  People a lot smarter then me would like to believe so, and I agree with them.

Having Amazon HQ2 here would be amazing for the real estate market.  It would be amazing for the economy.  Heck, it would be great for me as a Top Dallas Real Estate Agent trying to grow my business.  Not only would Dallas directly be impacted from Amazon, but from other companies flocking here to support the influx of new residents relocating to the Lone Star State.  I am very hopefully.  I hope the reports are right.  We shall have to wait and see.  As a REALTOR looking to relocate people to Dallas I am praying every night for the final decision.  Call me for all your buying and selling needs.
